Accommodation
What are the opening hours of your Reception?
At the Statesman Hotel, we have embraced the digital world and do not have a traditional hotel Reception. Offering a contactless environment, guests can check in online and will be provided with your accommodation door code by SMS once it is ready for your arrival.
If you are not tech savvy, do not worry, our restaurant and bar staff can assist on your arrival.
Is the Statesman Hotel cashless?
The Statesman Hotel is fully digital and, unfortunately, we do accept cash as a form of payment for accommodation stays and when enjoying coffee in Ballot Box. However, patrons and guests can pay with cash or use a selection of credit cards, or EFT when dining in our restaurant and bars or for purchases from the Bottle Shop.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 2:00pm with check-out at 10:00am. Any requests for an early arrival, or later departure are subject to availability and may incur additional charges.
Do you provide Express Check-In and Check-Out?
Yes, being contactless and fully digital, we only offer express check-in and check-out. Full payment for your accommodation will be processed two days prior to arrival. On the day of check-in, guests will be sent a SMS with the door code when their accommodation is ready. A pre-authorisation will be charged to your credit card on the day your arrival to cover any incidental charges during your stay.
The Statesman Hotel does not offer charge-back facilities from any of our restaurants and bars.
On the morning of your departure, please ensure you have taken all your belongings before leaving your room, with no key drop required. Any additional charges during your stay will be charged to your credit card. If there are no charges, the pre-authorisation will be released – the timeframe for this to appear on your card will be subject to your own financial institution’s policy.
Is your accommodation easily accessible for guests?
The Statesman Hotel does NOT offer accessible accommodation.
The Statesman’s Lower House Queen Rooms are located on the ground floor and we recommend guests book this room type of accommodation is unable to easily navigate stairs with their luggage.
All other types of accommodation at the Statesman Hotel are accessible only by stairs, with no lift or concierge service available.
Do the guest rooms have ensuite bathrooms?
Yes, all our accommodation rooms offer ensuite bathrooms.
Does the Statesman Hotel have an elevator?
No, we do not have an elevator with the first-floor accommodation rooms only accessible by stairs.
All our Lower House Queen Rooms are located on the ground floor.
Guest Amenities
I am travelling with young children – what are my options?
We love having families with children stay and recommend our Queen Sofa Studio, Queen Sofa Balcony room or Cabinet rooms. Offering a more spacious environment including either queen or twin beds, a sofa bed – perfect for families travelling together.
For families travelling with children and wanting separate bedrooms, we have a number of guest rooms that offer an interconnecting door. If required, please request this option when making your accommodation booking.
Our Queen Sofa Studio and Cabinet rooms also feature kitchenette facilities which includes a microwave for reheating.
Cots and highchairs are available on request.
Is there off-street parking available?
Yes, we provide complimentary parking.
Do you allow pets?
No, unfortunately, pets are not permitted.
Can I smoke at the Statesman?
Our accommodation, restaurants and bars are strictly non-smoking.
There are several outside areas for guests and patrons who wish to smoke and we ask that you dispose of your cigarettes with care.
A $250.00 additional cleaning fee will be charged is guests smoke in their room.
Is there free Wi-Fi?
Yes, we provide guests with fabulous Wi-Fi that is complimentary during your stay.
Can I prepare and cook my own food?
Guests staying in our Queen Sofa Studios and Cabinet Queen and Sofa rooms do have kitchenette facilities that includes a microwave for reheating meals, however, our kitchenettes are not designed for cooking meals. If you would like to enjoy a glass of something with dinner, pop down to our Bottle Shop to purchase your beverage or choice.
The Ballot Box is offering some of the best coffee in Canberra and guests can enjoy some scandalously good food in Policy Restaurant. Enjoy a cold beer in the Sports Bar or for a cocktail, Nancy B is the place to be.
Can I charge back to my room from your food and beverage outlets?
Unfortunately, we do not offer charge back facilities from our restaurants and bars.
Do you provide laundry facilities?
Unfortunately, we do not offer laundry facilities for guests to use during their stay.
Do you offer baggage storage?
Yes, we can store your bags during the day.
